Deep Run With Anticipation

Haven't played live in a while mainly due to having other plans on the weekend and working some long hours and not really wanting to go play during the week. However a couple weeks ago I played the 35k gtd on Full Tilt with about 2100 players I managed to finish 32nd. Don't remember to many details and not like it would be all that interesting. I attempted to play some FTOPS satellites and didn't do to well in any of those.

The Beau is fast approaching and I'm ready to play a live tourney considering I haven't played a live tournament since Vegas back in June. Although I'm ready to play I'm a little bummed since I've seen the structure. The "Deep Stack" tourney sounds good and looks intriguing when you see the words "deep stack" next to the tourney info but then looking at the structure is kind of a downer. Not sure why they went to 30 minutes levels, that's just not a good thing. I would prefer to have 5k in chips and 50 minutes levels rather than 10k and 30 minutes. On top of such short levels it's not like they have automatic shufflers, so barring the competence level of the dealer it could make for some even quicker levels as far as hands dealt.

It just seems like every time a tournament director does something right they find a way to make me scratch my head. The Venetian without a doubt puts the best product out there as far as value for the money BUT the payout structure is horrible...I'm just not sure how they could look at that and say "yea bottom money is a $40 profit, that's sounds good." For the longest Harrah's found ways to screw up tournaments and this past May I think they finally got everything right...but who knows if that will be the same in 2010. And the Beau, they are so close. They treat the players great, the room is nice, the casino itself is just pleasant to walk in to. They make a "deep stack" event and everyone is hoping it will be like the Venetian and they go and cut a bunch of levels and make them 30 minutes. They do have something that looks really interesting and something I have never heard of. Event #2 is a very creative tournament idea. Day one is Saturday and Sunday is also a day one, so if ppl bust on Saturday they can show back up on Sunday and play then and day two is Monday. This should create a nice prize pool. I'm definitely playing on the Sunday b/c my Fantasy Football draft is on the Saturday. Not sure if I'm gonna play the Friday event #1 event.

Watching ESPN right now and Plexico Burress got two years for being a dumb ass and shooting himself. That's kinda retarded considering that he could have gotten off with like 2 months, community service and a couple years probation. Guess it's just the whole celebrity athlete thing where they're told they never do anything wrong their entire life and then the real world happens. Also a bad week b/c Brett Favre is back, I really don't like that guy and I hope he has the worst year of his career. I long for the day when he is forgotten and I don't have to watch sportscenter and here his name. Oh well, I'm ready for football season and the Beau.
Till Next Time.
